Here in Napa Valley, the harvest season has ended. With the end of this busy season, life has slowed down allowing time to sit and enjoy family and friends - and what a better way than with a seasonal cocktail (or two)! As our thanks to you, we want to share Off the Beaten Path Wine Country's favorite NOVEMBER earth-to-glass libations!
A perfect pairing - St. George Botanivore Gin Grapefruit & Thyme Spritzer along with The Breckenridge Distillery Bourbon Mule
cheers, salud, saluti, a votre sante...!
St. George Grapefruit & Thyme Spritzer
The herbal notes in the gin complement the thyme syrup and grapefruit so perfectly. You simply must try it with this gin!
2 oz. Simply Grapefruit Juice
1 oz. St. George Botanivore Gin
1 oz. Thyme Simple Syrup (recipe below)
Sparkling Water (to top off, around 1 - 2 oz)
Thyme Simple Syrup:
Combine 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar and boil to dissolve. Add a bunch of thyme and let steep until it comes to room temperature. Remove the thyme leaves and pour the mixture into a glass container; refrigerate until you’re ready to use.
Combine ½ cup of sugar with the zest of 1 small grapefruit.
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail mixer and shake with ice. Rim a tall thin glass (Highball/Collins glass) with the grapefruit zest/sugar mixture and fill with ice. Strain the mixture into the glass and top off with sparkling water. Garnish with a VERY THIN grapefruit wheel, a thyme sprig a straw & ENJOY!
oh, and MAKE IT PRETTY!!
The Breckenridge Distillery Bourbon Mule
Want your copper mug AND your Bourbon too?? This twist on the Moscow Mule pairs bourbon, ginger beer and mint infused simple syrup for a refreshing and heart-warming fall cocktail.
2 oz Breckenridge Distillery Bourbon (you could substitute your favorite bourbon)
1/2 oz Fresh lime juice
1/2 oz mint infused simple syrup (recipe below)
Garnish: Mint sprigs
Mint Infused Simple Syrup:
Make the mint infused simple syrup by combining 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar in a pot, add a bunch of mint leaves (more if you want a stronger mint flavor) and let it steep until the mixture comes to room temperature. Remove the mint leaves and pour it into a glass container, refrigerate until you’re ready to make your cocktail!
Add the bourbon, lime juice and mint simple syrup to a Moscow Mule mug. Fill the mug with ice and top with ginger beer. Add a mint sprig for garnish!
And of course you can't forget the amazing wine country table setting!
